A Little 2.06 Help

I am trying to help a friend with a 2.06 PSP and not to sure what to do with it every thread has the major revs. If anyone could please point me on where to start and the other threads here will help me complete this.

My guess was to upgrade to XXX then down to 1.5 then onto Dark_Alex's firmware?

Any help is appreciated. Would hate to brick a friends PSP.

I was fortunate enough to have a 1.5.....
