Precautions

//The flashing is a delicate process, since we are going to format the flash memory(flash0) of the PSP and install a "new firmware", so make sure your battery is fully charged, and the AC adapter is connected to the PSP.

//This guide will assume you have a 1.50, 2.71 SE-A, 2.71 SE-B, 2.71 SE-B', 2.71 SE-B'', 2.71 SE-C, 3.02 OE-A, or 3.02 OE-B firmware.

//YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!, nobody will take responsibility if your PSP bricks.

Downloads

//Dark_AleX's 3.03 OE: http://dl.qj.net/Dark_AleX-s-3.03-OE...2092/catid/114
//Dark_AleX's 3.03 OE-B Patch: http://dl.qj.net/index.php?pg=12&fid=12202

//3.03 Update Eboot: http://dl.qj.net/PSP-Firmware-3.03-P...1844/catid/163

Generating and installing the DATA.DXAR File

//Download the 303OE.rar file, and unrar the folders oeupmaker and oeupmaker% from the root folder to the GAME folder on your Memory Stick (X:\PSP\GAME). Navigate to X:\PSP\GAME\oeupmaker\ (where X is your PSP's drive letter). Rename the 1.50 Update Eboot to 150.PBP and copy it to the oeupmaker folder. Rename the 3.03 Update Eboot to 303.PBP and copy it to the oeupmaker folder.

//When asked, overwrite the PSP and the GAME folders.

Now, In the PSP, Go to GAMES > Memory Stick and start the OE UpdateMaker.

A bunch of white text will come up.

Once it finish (takes about 3 or so minutes), It will return to the XMB. Once again connect your PSP to your PC via USB. There will now be a new file in PSP/GAME/OEUPDATEMAKER, named "DATA.DXAR".

Copy the folders 303oeflasher and 303oeflasher% from the rar file to the GAME folder of your memory stick. Navigate to PSP/GAME/OEUPDATEMAKER, and move the DATA.DXAR from there to the 302oeflasher folder.

Installing 3.03OE

// TAKE OUT ANY UMD THAT IS IN THE DRIVE!!!

Make sure your battery is at least 75% (100% recommended) and plug the AC adapter.
Start the application, named "3.03OE flasher".

It will display some pink text, press "X", and it will start flashing your psp. A percentage will be displayed.
http://vbmaster.portablesofdoom.org/271se_tut/flashing271se.png
When it finishes, you will be prompted to manually restart your PSP. You can now delete the update files off of your memory stick.

Installing 3.03 OE-B Patch

Download and open OEB_UPDATE.RAR. Open the MS-ROOT folder.
Copy the PSP folder to the root of your memory stick (NOTE: If you have set your kernel to use 1.50 with GAME, you'll have to extract the eboot to the GAME folder, not GAME150, so change it after extracting. If you don't know what this means, chances are you don't need to do it.)
Launch the updater (if it refuses to load, move it to the GAME folder)

Recovery Menu

Turn your PSP off, and turn it back on, holding the 'R' trigger button. The PSP will enter recovery mode, don't panic. Scroll to configuration, and press 'X'. Scroll to Game folder homebrew, and press 'X' until it displays "(currently: 1.50 Kernel)". You may also disable hide corrupt icons and disable SCE logo. Also, you may notice that your recovery menu is now orange or red. This is normal.

Loading Homebrew in 3.03OE

Follow the instructions regarding the Recovery Menu above.

//To Load Homebrew, as you used to in 1.50, you should put the homebrew, kxploited or not, in the directory PSP/GAME (You will need to create this folder), and voila, you're done.

//To Load Homebrew made for 3.03 kernel, place it into PSP\GAME320

//You MUST have an ISO folder in the root of your memory stick, and a GAME and GAME320 folder in the PSP folder of your memory stick

My browser won't work, I always get BSoD's

My PRX files don't work in game, even when I enable them. How do I fix this? (thanks to ci0ud strife, ADePSP, and |-Anubis-|)

1. Start your PSP holding 'R', your PSP will boot into recovery mode.
2. Scroll to Advanced, hit 'X'
3. Scroll to Advanced Configuration, hit 'X'

I have a custom 1.50 firmware, or my 1.50 firmware has custom backgrounds and such. Can I still upgrade?

Yes, it doesn't matter if your 1.50 flash is "clean" or not, you can upgrade to 3.03OE all the same.

How do I uninstall 2.71 SE/3.03OE?

1. Open up the .rar file for your custom firmware.
2. Open the download .rar file, and open up the flasher for recovery folder
3. Now, extract the RECOVERY folder to X:\PSP\GAME\ (so that it is X:\PSP\GAME\RECOVERY)
4. Now, download the 1.5 Update
5. Rename the update from EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP.
6. Copy it to X:\PSP\GAME\RECOVERY\, there should now be 2 .prx files and 3 .pbp files
7. Turn off and turn back on your PSP, holding the 'R' button. Recovery console will come up DO NOT PANIC!
8. Scroll to Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP, and press 'X'
9. Some purple writing will come up, press 'X'
10. You now have a 1.5 PSP

How do I disable UMD autoload? (Thanks to NINJ4)

1. Boot your PSP into Recovery mode (cold boot while holding R)
2. Go to Configuration, press X
3. Go to Skip SCE logo, press X
4. Go back, Exit.

How do I disable corrupt icons?

1. Boot your PSP into Recovery mode (cold boot while holding R)
2. Go to Configuration, press X
3. Go to Hide Corrupt Icons, press X
4. Go back, Exit.

Some of my apps don't load/ I have hide corrupt icons enabled, but there's still corrupt icons

* Download the Eboot Fixer
* Extract both of the files in the zip file to anywhere.
* Open eBootFixer.exe
* For 1.0 Eboots (only one folder):
o Enter the name you want the eboot to have in the enter eboot name text box.
o Then, click fix eboot, and go to the eboot you want to fix, and press open
* For 1.5 Ebots (two folders, one has a % sign):
o Click "1.5 mode"
o Enter the name you want the eboot to have in the enter eboot name text box.
o Then click the "Select % EBOOT (first)" button. Navigate to the eboot that's located in the folder with the % sign.
o Then, click the "Select non-% EBOOT (second)" button. Navigate to the eboot that's located in the folder without the % sign.
* Enjoy

I can't get IR Shell to work

Use IR Shell v3.1

I only have a 32 MB memory stick, the files won't fit.

Use IRShell, using the USBHost to make the update file. Then, put the update file and the updater eboot on your memory stick.

I got the blue screen that says my flash1 is corrupted. What do I do?

Don't panic. Just press 'circle', and verify that the information is correct, and you shouldn't see the screen again.

How do I autoboot a program?

1. Place an eboot into /PSP/GAME/BOOT/EBOOT.PBP, this must be a 1.0 version homebrew
2. Boot into recovery mode by holding 'R' on boot up
3. Scroll to configuration, and enable starting an eboot on startup.
4. Exit recovery mode
5. The app will autostart whenever you turn on your PSP.

How do I overclock my PSP?

Read farther down on this FAQ about how do I use PRX files. Follow those steps, installing the Overclocking Module (OCMod)

I have a [insert region here] PSP. Do I need to do any special steps, or get any special EBOOTs?

No, just follow the steps stated above

Can I delete the update files after updating to the custom firmware?

Of course.

How do I flash customizations?

Use either the 3.02 customizer or uFlash.

How do I use custom PRX's?

1. Download the PRX you want to use from here: http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-firmware-...ead-80310.html
2. Open the download, and find the .prx file
3. Extract it to X:\seplugins\ (where X is your PSP drive)
4. Make sure you have a game.txt and a vsh.txt in the seplugins folder
5. Now, decide how you want the prx to work. If you want it during UMD Game, edit game.txt. If you want it in the XMB (PSP main menu), edit vsh.txt. If you want it in both, edit both .txt files.
6. Open up whatever txt you were supposed to edit, and put the line "ms0:/seplugins/[PRX NAME HERE].prx" (without quotes) (ex. ms0:/seplugins/oc.prx)
7. Turn off your PSP. Turn it on holding R, you will go to the recovery console.
8. Select plugins, select your PRX, and press X to toggle enabled or not.

9. Now your PRX file should work.

My music/internet browser never load, my PSP just shuts off.

Scroll to Settings->Video Settings. If a blue screen comes up, hit 'circle', re-enter your data, and you should be good to go.

Why can't I run official Sony updates?

This was removed by Dark_AleX, you'll have to uninstall the custom firmware (or use the recovery menu) to run them.

Why did you and Hardrive make a guide?

Because I'm a rotten little copycat (take that)
EDIT by Adiuvo: Right, sure I am

Does using a JAP or US update matter?

No, it does not matter.

Is there a success rate thread?

Yes. Here.

Do you have a different download link for the 3.02OE installer?

Yes. Here.

My backed up games won't run properly from the XMB, what should I do?

To fix this problem go to your recovery menu by holding R at a hard boot (no sleep mode) and go to Advanced > Advanced Configuration, then turn 'Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO' to disable. You should now be able to run your backed up games properly.
NOTE: We DO NOT condone piracy in any way, this question is for those who use backed up games that they own LEGALLY!

The DXAR maker won't open my EBOOT's!

If you don't have extensions showing, don't add .pbp to the file name. Just have it be 150 and 303.

You can upgrade directly from 3.03OE-A to 3.03OE-B, you dont have to upgrade to 3.03OE-A'...

No you can't...

You will have to downgrade to 1.5 first then upgrade.

You can play cso's as you would iso's. Thjey are both playable. You don't have to change it. Just when you get the 3.03 OE-B Custom Firmware, make an "ISO" folder in the root of your psp. The root if you don't know if they first thing that shows up when you open the PSP on the computer. On my computer is the E\:.

What would happen in my case?

My system has the firmware version 1.51 installed.

When you guys say that the system needs to be downgraded to 1.5, does this includes 1.51 and 1.52 too?

I don't want to brick my console.

Hi everyone!!

I am new to these firmware changes and stuff. I have recently updated my psp to firmware 3.03 OE B. I am not sure if it the one that was made by Dark Alex, but i have a hunch that it is. I used and easy downgrader.

Well the thing is this: I am trying to enter the flash0 on my psp. (Because I want to see if i can modify the xmb on the psp), I already have the rco files like that ready. But they tell me to go to recovery mode and paste them in flash0, etc. Once in Recovery Mode. I Connect the PSP to the PC with the USB cable. Selected the advanced option, then i am supposed to select the USB flash0 option.

But i do not see that on the recovery mode menu. When i go to advanced> i get:

* advanced configuration>
*Flash pspbtcnf.txt (3.03)
*Flash pspbtcnf_game.txt (3.03)
*Flash pspbtcnf_updater.txt (3.03)
*Flash pspbtcnf_pops.txt (3.03)
*Flash pspbtcnf_game.txt (1.50)
*Flash pspbtcnf_updater.txt (1.50)
*Flash systemctrl.prx (3.03)
*Flash systemctrl.prx (1.50)

I have like no idea what to do from there because I am afraid to brick it if i modify any of those flash files without having the proper knowledge in it.

Now, I was doing a little wiki searching, and I managed to see that apparently flash0 cannot be accessed in firmwares 3.03, but I think it' talking about non OE firmwares, and that's where it just gets confusing. Here's the wiki link in case anyone wants to read it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_0

If anyone could help me with accesing Flash0 on my 3.03 OE B firmware, I would appreciate it so much.

Thanks all you guys in advance!
