HI!

I have a MS25 drive that needs to be flashed. In the guides it says that i shall format a floppy and put ''MKTFLASH.EXE, MKTFLASH.TYP, XTREME.BIN and XTRM800.BIN'' on the floppy. But in the newer xtreme firmwares like ''xtreme 50'' there is many firmware files. Witch files should I use. I'm guessing it is ''52a-ms25.bin'' because I have a MS25 drive?? Or am I wrong?

Also, do i need to use different versions of firmwares for different motherboards?

And some people recommended ''Xtreme Boot Maker'' for doing this, do I have to use that application?

And If my sata chipsets on my motherboard aren't listed in the guide, can i destroy my xbox 360 by trying to flash it?

1:yes that firmware will work just fine for your drive
2: no you do not need special fimwares for different motherboards (your motherboard/pci card either works or it doesn't
3: no, but its a good app to use.
4: no you cannot destroy tour 360 dvd drive by trying to flash it with incompatable sata chipsets, as i said it either works or it doesn't

I would highly recomend xtreme bootmaker to create your boot disk. Even if you dont use the extra files it puts onto the disk it makes a great mtkflash compatble disk if your chipset isnt natively compatable.

make disk

backup orig.bin

hex edit key onto the whateve.bin

copy onto disk

upload onto drive

Easy method to flash m25

1. Get xtreme bootmaker and have it hex edit mtkflash for you.
2. Plug SATA cable from 360 drive to SATA in PC
3. turn on 360
4. turn on pc
5. after booting to dos type mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin

power off everything and boot to windows
check orig.bin in the firmware toolbox to make sure it got a good copy.
Copy orig.bin to the xtreme5.2 folder
run make xtreme firmware command
select your firmware you want
take x52x.bin , check it in firmware toolbox, if the keys match.. copy it back to boot disc

1. Plug SATA cable from 360 drive to SATA in PC
2. turn on 360
3. turn on pc
4. after booting to dos type mtkflash w /m /sata x52x.bin
the x's are whatever the name of the file the make xtreme firmware command gives you. Mine was x52a.bin
