Hi, My window media player won't play at all. I put the SVCD in, I opened it with window media player, then at the center it was just blank, at the bottom I saw message" opening window media" and just keeps on running. Do I need any codec for this window media player? I already downloaded divx,xvid,ac3,divxPro. Please help guys.

I should have suggested this before, download GSpot and load the movie in the program to see exactly which codec you need.

To play SVCDs you need an MPEG2 codec (i dunno what the SVCD codec was.... it might have been an MPEG2 codec)..... install any DVD software program and you will get the MPEG2 codec.

Are you sure its an SVCD? Can you run the movie through GSpot and tell us what codec you need?
Good Luck.

Ok once youve downloaded GSpot just open up the program and get into the file menu and open up the file you cant play. The program will go through the movie and tell you whether you have the right codecs to view the movie or not. Tell us what it reports.

Hi, this is what the report:
This is, or appears to be, an unsupported filetype. GSpot provides full support for AVI and OGG media streams. Based on its composition, GSpot believes the filetype to be "RIFF/CDXA -->MPEG (.MPG/.MPEG/.VOB)".

Hmmm I guess it might be an SVCD...Does the movie play in any other players? For example Powerdvd?
What WMP version are you using?

1. Open the movie using AVICodec (http://avicodec.duby.info/)
2. It will tell you if you have the correct codecs to play MPEG files and give u links to codecs if you are missing any
3. Make sure too that you dont have a fake hehe
