memory slot light just flashing

I have a couple of PSP, one which has a faulty UMD drive and the other which has been bricked. I have taken the motherboard out of the PSP with the faulty UMD driver and put it into the one with the bricked motherboard. Everything appeared to go well and I can now play my UMD games. When I went to put in a memory card, the light just flashes constantly and the PSP reports that there isnt a card in the drive. Is stipped it all down a couple of times and even tried the memory card reader board from the bricked PSP but still the same. the memory card reader was OK before this because I had just upgraded to 3.03 OE-A.

I have tried another memory stick and it doesnt work. Both sticks work OK in another PSP.

Anyone got any ideas?
