Drive not detecting blank DVD's when im about to burn?!!?!?!

I am using a HP DVD Writer 740b, I am using DVD Shrink, and DVD Decrypter. Even Sonic, Nero, none of these programs recognize a blank disc when i stick it in to burn. The medium i am using is Maxell DVD-R. Please if you can help that would be great this has been annoying me for like 2 days now.

I suppose it used to work, right? If so, try have the pc recognize the blank disc with e.g. Nero Info Tool first before the burning operation. You may need to try this a couple of times for it to work.
