Hi, would appriciate a bit of help/direction.

I have a 70003 slimline and have switches done from inside and use the swap magic boot method v3.6. I use DVD Decrypter v3.5.3.0 along with Verbatim 16x TYG03, burning @ x4. I have a very high success rate on my backups, but.....

The problem seems to be on some 4GB+ games that are obviously vey close to the outer edge of the media and the lazer just keeps searching with a little clicking sound (I do not get any invalid disk messaages)
The latest game to do this was Mortal Kombat Armageddon, which plays the entire opening movie clip then the above problem happens.
Whilst another game is Cabelas African Safari which just goes straight to the problem stated. (which is more than often the case).

Is this a commen problem on some games and is there any way around this problem, I suppose re-sizing is out of the question ?

A few other games that I have had this problem with are :- WWE Smackdown v Raw 2007 and Fifa Street.

Cheers for your help/comments.

Maybe you can shrink the game. Ive heard of it on a few other forums, but havnt time to read up how to do it. Just search google for shrinking ps2 games etc. I know its good for games on the HDD so you can fit more on. But dont know if its good for Swap Magic.

Also Ive had problems with them Verbatims 16x to. Infact my budget cheap media was playing better then them Verbatims 16x. U should try another top brand or Verbatim 8x and burn at 4x. Maybe just buy a single DVD-R to see if it works better?
That might help.

Yay! Someone else that has the same problem as me.

This is how do a temporary fix.

Before swaping SM 3.6 for the backup, do a laser adjustment. To do one read carefully. Using your hand carefully move the laser forward (away from the spining motor), slowly until it reaches the edge. Then you do the swap.
Once you do the swap keep you disc cover open, and play. This should let your games work.

However with mine, my disc sometimes stops spinning during play. But I think I have a loose tool. But incase it may happen to you, keep the case close until you hear the sound. When you do, just open the case, let the game load, then close it again.

Hope it helps...

No joy with that mate, Booted the SM disc removed it then gently slid the lazer up, but then after entering game and pressing x the lazer drops down to the centre of the disc then back up to the outer egde and the problem still occurs.

The media isn't the problem. But will see if I can find out more about shrinking/rebuiling the games.

Thanks for your help guys and any more would be appriciated.
