Just today, I discovered 2 bits of software that I used to backup my DVD disks, and so I thought I share with you all how I done it.

What you'll need;

Mac OS 10.2.x
DVDBackup
DVD2OneX

Step 1;
Insert your DVD disk and let Apple DVD Player auto play. This will unlock the disk to enable you to do step 2.

Step 2;
You can close down the DVD player now if you wish. Now launch DVDBackup. Drag your DVD disk into the window to list it's contents. Now you don't have to worry what they all mean, just select them all and press 'Process File', then select somewhere to store the files (note: it will first create a VIDEO_TS folder). This will work away for about 30 - 60 min depending on your machine.

Step 3;
With all the processing in Step 2 complete, launch DVD2OneX.With the application open, in the Source field enter where you stored your processed file from Step 2. What you should then get is a list of all the files. What you need to do now is select the track which is the longest in length then the Audio track (which is usually AC3 6channel) and click 'Start'. Again save into a location you can easily find. This will again take some time to process, but once it's finnished you'll have a cut down version of your original DVD that will fit on a 4.7GB disk.

Step 4;
Launch toast, create a new DVD, name it, and then drop your 2nd VIDEO_TS folder which you created in Step 3. Burn away and hey presto your backup is complete.

What could be more easier!!!
