Can U Use A DVD-9 Game To Boot Up Biggest 4.37GB DVD-5 Game?

Hello,
First off must say this site rocks! All your help is greatly appreciated....Anyways I have a slimline ps2 and have used the tape and tissue method and the action replay to play my backup games on my ps2. (I know cheapskate way, but hey it works!) ....Anyways have had a couple successful burns with cd based games, and a couple successful burns wih dvd based games. I was curious though....can you use a high TOC DVD-9 game as a boot for a high TOC dvd-5game? I just dont want to waste any more dvd'rs and should just go out and but a DVD-9 game to boot with.....Another one I wanted to boot was my guitar hero II backup...THANKS!

I don't think so. I have MGS2: Substance and God of War both of which are dual-layer games but they don't seem to work in refreshing the TOC (perhaps because only one layer is refreshed). See http://www.ps3news.com/forums/ps2-1-1-sw...oc-list-60.html for a list of TOC sizes, you can pick up an old game like GTA:VC (4.35GB) for under $10 nowadays.

No you cant use DVD9 as TOC refresh. You cant even boot a DVD9 backup with a softmod.
