I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but I need some help.
I just got my 360 today (MF date 7/12/2006) and I want to flash it so I can play backed up games.
Here is what I have so far
360
PC (A8N5x mobo,Nforce4,has SATA ports)
Nec 3550A burner (flashed with L&D firmware so it can booktype to -ROM).
Verbatim DL DVDs
Is there anything else I will need? How do I tell which DVD Drive my 360 has?
Then after I figure out which drive I have could someone point me in the direction of a good tutorial and all of the files I will need.
here is how to find what drive you have, post back with your drive and we can tell you what to do to flash it, or you can google "Xbox 360 BLAHBLAHBLAH Drive flash tutorial" and change blahblahblah with your drive and there ya go
I got this chip today and about to modify my 360 for the first time...(cant right now cuz i dont have a Torx 10)
You also got the same dvd writer as me...i havent tried to burn any copies but after today i will
The new 5.2 Xtreme for the Samsung is probably the best cuz you can now burn with crappy media and burn single layered discs (if any 360 game should fit on them)

Okay, well now we need to know what the ROM Version of the drive is. To get that, you have to open the 360, and look at the top of the DVD Drive. It will say ROM VER.: XXXXXX. This is the guide that I used to open my 360. You don't need to buy the Disassembly Kit. Just a waste of money (though if you want the process to be a whole lot easier, buy it). Also, you could check out 360 Mods if you need extra help. These guys at 360 Mods can help a whole lot.
So I finally got it opened up and yep it's an MS28. So from what I can tell there is no chance i'll be able to use it with my onboard SATA unless I do some soldering,so i'll need to order a SATA card. Anybody have the link to the right card I need?
Edit: I must be blind, it's already been posted in here.
I have a Q though, what are the differences if any between these 2 cards.
This one looks like it has more reviews, that said it worked with flashing the 360 Drive. The other one, looks like it's cheap, and a few people have written that it is cheap. In my opinion, I would go for the second one. I ordered that one last week, and I'm waiting for it to arrive.
