Hello,
I?m sorry if this is slightly off topic.
I recently purchased a DVD recorder (Philips DVDR 3380) to transfer some of my old VHS stuff to DVD. The DVDs have been recorded and properly finalized.
I am now trying to make copies of the DVDs that I recorded with the Philips DVDR 3380, but it is impossible.
I have tried with DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter and with the latest version of DVDFab. But none of these programs can do it.
(DVD Shrink says something like: Invalid DVD navigation structure.
This is quite strange, since the stuff that I transferred from VHS is mainly TV shows and other non-protected material.

Has anybody had a similar problem? Does anybody know how to solve this, or what software I need to use? Thanks a lot!

When you 'Explore' the disc what exactly do you see, folder and filewise ? What file extensions?

Unless you have a standard VIDEO_TS folder with VOBs and IFOs, it's not strange at all.

Thanks for the quick reply. When I explore the DVD, I find two folders.
The first one is called: VIDEO_RM
The second one: VIDEO_TS

If I open the first folder, there are three files:
VIDEO_RM
VIDEO_RM.BUP
VIDEO_RM.IFO

If I open the second folder, I find ten files:
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB

I hope this helps... thanks again!

The file extensions are correct for Video_TS but Video_RM isn't supported that I know of. I've not encountered it, but then I've not used the new DVD Recorder I got for Christmas. You need to check a more appropriate forum such as,
Digital video discussion: Video capturing from analog sources
and/or
Home theater: DVD recorders

By the way, I have no idea what's in the RM folder but you should be able to process the Video_TS folder if you access it alone. You might need to process it with FixVTS using Full DVD (corrects structure).

Good call. If it was me, I'd try processing the Video_TS files with FixVTS in Full DVD. It just takes a few minutes and does wonders with file compliance. Then if Shrink will do a quick analysis, everything is good to go.

Thanks for all your help. I couldn't do it the way it is explained on the web-site. But I decided to play a little with DVD Fab and ended up figuring out how to copy each file on the DVD separately to my hard drive. Once that's done, those copied files are easily opened with DVD Shrink.
I'm not sure if any of this makes any sense, but it's working...
Thanks again!

By the way, PacMan777
Out of curiosity: is there a link out there where I could download FixVTS from?
Thanks again.

Vobblanker is another option, if you really learn how to use it, it can do a lot more.

I prefer easy, which is why I use FixVTS. I've had VobBlanker loaded before, but to date, I've never really needed it to do a backup.
