We have recently installed a webcam system at the fire lookout we volunteer staff. We have 4 cameras at this time and has secured a capture card to operate them. If turned out to be proprietary with only the software supplied operating them. We have sent requests for information on multi port card to several manufactures with no responses. We need a card that is windows reconizable so the cameras can be cycled with the webcam32 software. We want to capture 1 jpg from each camera once a minute and ftp it to the website. The cameras are CCD 1/3" color bullet cameras. Does anyone know of a multi-port capture card that will do the job.
Thanks, RAC

Do these camera use composite video output? or do they have firewire?

If it's firewire, you can get a firewire card w multiple ports. If they are composite... I've never heard of them, and even if they existed they would be expen$ive.

They are CCD composite cameras. They require a PCI capture card or something that will function the same. We have looked at som many cards and can't tell if they would work or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, RAC

Rather than having multiple catpure cards on the PC, I think a more scalable and economical solution would be to have a multiplexor that takes multiple composite inputs and outputs the selected output to your capture card. Adding cameras should be easier too.

Web sites that specialises in the security/cctv business should be able to help you out.
