Power ON PROBLEM!

Hi every one
Last night, i had a long Gaming session on my Slim PS2 V12 70004.
And today morning as i tried to turn it on IT JUST WON'T!
The problem
After i plug in and switch on ( In STAND BY mode now ) and then PRESS THE POWER button it just stays in STAND BY mode and does'nt POWER UP!
WHAT'S WRONG? I AM SURE IT'S JUST SOME PROBLEM WITH THE WIRE.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

!!UPDATE!!

I Just opened my PS2 and it seemes like the Playstation 2 V12 Reset/Eject/IR Cable is messed up
( The pins at either ends are broken and loosened up )



WHAT IF I Buy anew cable and replace the olde one will it work?
