I have a v13 ps2. Should I go with the Matrix Infinity Green Dot, DMSE4 Pro SE, or the Crystal Chip v2.0? I am going to have teammodders install it for me.

I am looking for a chip that has a long life span, will allow me to easily play emulation, play all of my ps2 backups, and is easy to flash.

Also, I read that you can flash the DMSE4 Pro SE by only using a cd. However, I haven't been able to find any other information on how to flash the other chips. If anyone has any info on how to flash the other chips please let me know.

The v13 supports a hard drive, but if you don't plan on installing one, then any of those chips would work just fine. The Crystal Chip seems to have the most active updates, although the Green Dot has an excellent history of updates as well. The DMS4 chips have not had many updates, but the Toxic OS supports playing games directly from the hard drive.

BLAST!! I have a V9 that's being repaired and a DMS installed. I liked the HDD support so I went for that. I didn't know it didn't get many updates though so I hope this won't be a problem later.

I wouldn't worry. In my mind the only features really missing from the DMS4 Chip + Toxic OS is a built in FTP server, VGA output support, auto-DNAS patching. AFAIK, no chips support all of that on-board, and DMS4 is the only chip that supports loading games from the hard drive natively. I have the DMS4 chip in my v7, and I'm very happy with it.

yeah, i am also a DMS4 Pro guy. Love it.
The HDD support and built in cheat device were a big selling point for me. And i get ALL my work done at Teammodders.
But make sure it is a PRO if you get a DMS4, because the DMS4 Lite doesn't have all the same features

The CC2.0 combined with HDL can do everything the DMS4Pro can and more. The DMS team is dead and has no support.

http://www.norcalmods.com has great service, you should check them out as well.

Well you may or may not know this but Team Toxic was created by Sjeep who was also part of DMS and also their main coder. So basically Team Toxic and DMS are one in the same and yes it appears that they are both dead.

Its very nice to see a team like Crystal Chips still active even now that the PS3 is out.

Ah, I thought the Toxic Team was a separate group. If they are dead, they should release the code.... I'm sure it would be useful to someone.

Sjeep release his code ..... hahaha, boy that would be nice. The first piece of code he should have released should have been the source to HDL (yes he coded the original HDLoader as well) once Sony killed that project and he also abandoned years ago now. Its still amazing what the HDL hackers (ZeroX and CrazyC) have done with the current patched HDL even without the source code! Imagine what they could do WITH the source!

I would have to say that before I started this thread I was leaning toward getting the DMS4 Pro SE. However, I think now I am leaning toward the Crystal Chip 2.0.

I like that fact that the Crystal Chip's firmware is updated frequently. I also like the fact that it is a few bucks cheaper as well. I have heard nothing but good things about the chip.

I was leaning toward the DMS more for the fact that it had on board memory for emulators. However, I thought I found a thread on here where you can load the emulator and roms from the same dvd. I wish I knew where I found it. Anyway, I am not going to get a HD so I don't need the DMS for that either. The fact that you can load emulators from a dvd and I'm not getting a HD pretty much seals the deal for not getting a DMS.

Thank you for giving me more options on places that install chips. Also, if anyone has any good links that explain firmware, emulation from a ps2, or anything else that you think may be helpful to a newbie please let me know.
