ON the Hong Kong Sony PS3 site says there will be an upgrade that will allow NTSC units to play PAL games, maybe that's gonna be in the next major upgrade?????

the games are region free but they still make NTSC games and PAL region games (when PAL comes out that is)

Today Sony released a new firmware upgrade for the PlayStation3.

This time it is not just a simple security upgrade; there is also a significant backwards compatibility fix.

Since launch there have been issues with the way the PS3 handled PS1 and PS2 games, such as blurred and pixelated graphics.

Sony has solved the problems through the 1.5 firmware update.

Expect Sony to continue to use firmware updates to resolve issues and add new functionality throughout the PS3's life.
