Hi:

I've been trying to author a DVD using TMPGEnc DVD Author. But when I try to use the "Add DVD Video" button I run into a very thick wall.
When I tell the program to access the DVD with the movie, after selecting the title I want, I got the message: "The video sequence header is incorrect"

I've ripped the DVD movie to my HD using DVD Decrypter. And then, whenever I try to add a new track using "Add DVD Video" I got the error message: VIDEO_TS.IFO can't be opened.

DVD Decrypter was in IFO move, and these are the files that exists in the folder:
VTS_01 - Stream Information.txt
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Where is the VIDEO_TS file? You need it.

Ok. I can see what I'm missing. No VIDEO_TS file, but, it is not suppossed to be created by DVD Decrypter in IFO mode?
Otherwise, how can I get that blasted file?

What are you trying to do, exactly?
If you are trying to do a basic backup of a DVD, I would suggest using DVDDecrypter and DVD Shrink or DVD2One.
Just curious...

Well:
I am a new comer in this ripping, encoding stuff. So I'm trying some different things, all at once (almost).
So far I've been able to encode DVD movies either as VCD or SVCD. The next step was to put several (up to five) VCD movies into a DVD, with a menu. For this I used TMPGEnc DVD Author (very basic menu, and not too many templates -rather dull) and ULEAD DVD Movie Factory, more flexible.
DVD2ONE and DVDSHRINK are no trouble. And my las atempt was to backup a couple of DVDs into a single DVD disk, using TMPGEnc and Ulead, here I am stuck. Neither of them seem to recognise a DVD movie. Ripping a movie with DVD Decrypter in file mode gets me the infamous VIDEO_TS.IFO, but to no avail. As Ulead complains about the audio being AC3, and TMPGEnc tells me something about GOP being too large....
I keep trying

I think that the VIDEO_TS file wouldn't be an issue here since you are reauthoring. TMPGEnc DVD Author will not accept VIDEO_TS, as it wants to work directly with the video files (in this case the VOBs)

Try this:
Set DVDDecrypter's options so that it will rip the movie as one large VOB file (use file mode, select only the main movie, and use stream processing to remove any audio or subtitle streams that you don't need). Next import that VOB to TMPGEnc DVD Author (select the actual large VOB file rather than the IFO). Do this for however many movies you want to put on the DVD, then use the edit function to remove end credits that are going to waste space on your compilation. Finally, setup your menues and export the title-set.

Next run DVD2One (use variable compression) or DVDShrink on the exported title-set to make it fit on one DVD-R, and burn the result.

In theory it should work, but I would think that the quality would be REALLY bad. Interesting project as an experiment though....
