if i want to make a backup of a safedisc 2 protected game like mohaa or battlefield1942,
i select safedisc 2 profile in alcohol and start reading. after 2 seconds, it says reading error xxxx and doesnt stop with reading errors. since im new using alcohol, is that normal? shall i just let i continue reading? i read this:http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/38350
so simply continue reading? and: is it normal that it reads wit x0,4 at the beginning? will it go faster?
and for last: isnt it better to use clonecd for safedisc 2? i made perfect copies of mohaa
This is normal when reading Safedisc 2.x cd protection. That's why you have the option to "ignore".

Bad sectors of the Safedisc cd protection are found within the first 1-10,500 of the cd or image. I don't read any faster than 20\24x and burn at 8\12x. Hope you have a "2 sheep burner" m8.

Yes and no. Depends on your brand name burner. Some Liteys can defeat Safedisc 2.8-2.9 using CloneCD, some can't. It's a "hit& miss"(roms abilty to read pre-gap) using CloneCD. The best way that I know of to test if your "rom" can read "pre-gap" is to use Paddus DiscJuggler and burn the Safedisc 2.8-2.9 protection on a cdrw and play the backup in your dvd\cd-rom If the backup plays then the "rom" you chose to read the image can read "pre-gap", if the backup don't play, the "rom" can't read "pre-gap".

thx for reply shoey
my burner is a sony crx201e or something, i found it in ur list of 2 sheep burners. so i can just let it continue reading?
and do u know some kind of lexikon where all those words like rom, efm etc. are explained? coz im really a noob
Keep reading the Safedisc cd protection and ignore the read errors . After doing so use the Safedisc 2 datatype profile and burn RAW DAO at 8x. Your backup "should" play without the aid of emulation.
