Not really - 1x is G1 and 4x is generally generation 2. The g2 dye is newer and more compatible i believe with a longer shelf life

Speaking from a Canadian point of view, $2.3 for 4x is amazing. I have only seen 4x at $5 each. it also depends on your burning if 1x are good. my burning is rated at 1x, but I can`t use 1x media, only 2x media because it burns most of the time at 1.1 to 1.5x speeds. How cheap are finding 1x media? If a lot cheaper then it might work for you, but 4x at that price is really good

They are unbranded with a silver top, dark purple bottom with the media iD tag RITEKGO3, thats what they say on there site will dvdinfo tell me if they are grade A's? I cant do this yet as my AO6 is in the mail :)

Ask them for batch codes. If they start H04 or H06 they should be good

Well i emailed them agai asking for the number thats around the hole in the middle of the dvd-r, i already have some blanks here which ill use to test when my burner arrives, i have 2 GO3's, 2 4x Princo, and 2 Optodisc 1x.

The riteks code on the actual disc is
E6-6L16303082559A22,

The Princo's code is:
4XH592400818, Here i saw H5, u mentioned H4 and H6....

and the optodisc numbers are too unclear so i wont bother. But the ritek code on the dvd-r i have now doesnt include H4 or H6 or any H*, though i didnt buy these off the place im investigating at the moment, i got them from a auction site similar to ebay.

Thanks

Ok they replied again and gave me more numbers :) these are the ones that are on the actual discs.

G03
J3-10L16307217279A09

G04
H4-8L19307241220B12

Does that tell you if they are Grade A or not? The Go3's im talking bout

Thanks

The G04's in your last post are fine. Im not sure what the batch coding on G03's are, but i would guess they would be fine. With Princo media, strangely enough it is H6 that is the best batch code to buy.

The Princo's code is:
4XH592400818, Here i saw H5

The above is a converted CDR factory, its improving, but i still wouldnt be sure. This is all based on reports over the past 6 months on these factories.

I burned my first dvd back-up last night using Ritek 1X media,I'm using a Pioneer A05 to record with. My question is: How much faster can I burn with good results? my media supply house has Ritek media of all sorts of speeds , which are the best combo for my writer? my price for Ritek 1X is 1.25 ea. ,4X is 1.59 ea. which dye or media code should i ask for?

For 1.59ea with your 4x versus 1.25 for 1x. For and extra 34 cents more, I would go with the 4x, then you have the option of 4x burn or lower if problems occurs. 1x there really no room to drop speed if any problems.

I've never had a problem with 4x burns using that writer, i think you should go for them.

The Ritek 1x media I'm using until I get the 4x media is fine ,but very slow to burn.My question is: Is there any way to use slow media for faster burns, I thought I'd seen a patch of some sort for the Pioneer burners to let them record at higher speeds,my price for 1X is low and if possible I'd keep using them if I can safely burn faster, any advice? thanks!

Herbsman can get his Pioneer DVR104 (1x writer) to burn at 2x on Ritek G03's with a firmware upgrade.

Even two times would be faster ,I forgot to mention I'm using the Pioneer A05 4X recorder,I thought I may be to fool Nero into seeing a faster media,it seems as though it auto detects the media speed,is there a way to disable this auto setting?(sorry for the cross topics) thanks!

Herbsman only managed to get his to go faster by using Record Now Deluxe and setting the speed to max
