I have enabled my flash drive to be shared over my network when plugged into my pc. I simply mounted my flash drive into an empty folder, then enabled it so it could be shared over my network. I also have three other ordinary folders that are also shared over the network. All shares are not password restricted by a user account.
I then edited the sources.xml file, and knowing that only putting an IP address as a path for My Music, My Pictures, and My Videos, that it does not need a username and password.
I then boot up my xbox and go to XBMC. I click on My Files, and then Workgroup (SMB), then my computer name, then I see the 4 folders. I can access my music, my pictures, and my videos with no problem, but when I click on my flash drive, it requires me to enter a username and password, which i shouldnt need. I have simple file sharing enabled, so why is this occuring? I do not have a username or password enabled for my flash drive, nor took any steps or measures to create an user and go through those steps to enable this.
The message says "Enter username for smb://GAMING/XRaptor" GAMING is my computer name and XRaptor is the name of my flash drive.
I then go to My Videos and try the same steps. This time, it says "Enter username for smb://192.168.0.5/XRaptor" 192.168.0.5 was the only string of text for a path I put in the sources.xml file to enable public use over my network. It said I could do so in the file itself. It does the same thing even in My Pictures and My Music.
I have already tried mounting the drive to another folder with a different name, and still the problem persists. Any ideas? I have got this to work about 2 hours ago, and it worked the first time i put in my flash drive to my computer. Now, i guess since this is my second time putting it in, it doesnt seem to want to access it.
