Resolution when viewing pictures via Disc or USB?

Kind of a newbie question here. Since the 360 does not play DVDs at 720p or 1080i, can it still display photos on a CD-R at those resolutions? If I hook up a jump drive to the USB on the 360, can it display the photos from that at the higher resolutions?
