i want to update to 1.5 (for BC), but i realize that paradox says that they have not confirmed that 1.5 will work for their method of playing backup ISO's. i was wondering what everyone is doing as far as staying at 1.32 vs updating to 1.5

What hack? Why would Paradox be sitting on a way to play backups? It makes no sense. People are living in a dreamworld. If you dont upgrade you cant sign in to the network which means you cant play online. Whats the point in owning a PS3 if you cant play it to it's full potential. Take my advice, use the upgrades and enjoy your PS3 NOW! Someone will figure out a way to play backups soon enough and you'll eventually be able to use them whether you upgrade now or not. Enjoy the time before backup play because when that finally happens it'll end up like all the consoles before them. You'll have every game available to play................and not play ANY of them because while your playing and enjoying one game, the next big game arrives and you start playing that until you have them all and have finished none of them. Thats what Ive found from my PS1, PS2, PSP and Dreamcast consoles to date anyway. I own one game on the PS3 and will play it until Im finished, sell it on Ebay and buy another...That is until the backup play begins. Then I'll become a PS3 backup collector.....not a PS3 player.

paradox has the ability to play backups but they won't release it to the public until the European PS3 launch on March 23, which is most likely going to be accompanied by a huge firmware upgrade. paradox will wait until this firmware is released before they release their ISO emulating stuff so that the firmware upgrade will not render it useless.

This means if you have not updated to v1.32 out of fear that a future iSO Loader will not work, you can now do so with peace of mind. However, until they have a chance to examine 1.50 we have been told NOT to update to it yet to be safe. More to come as it's available!"

Wow... before you jump all over mshack1 for not having an understanding, maybe you should get one first. Try reading the quote you posted again.
SPEAKING with paradox and actually SEEING their work is 2 different things.
Right now, no one other than paradox can prove that they actually have a working loader. And they've yet to post any proof. I'm not saying they're lying... I hope they're working on a loader just as much as everyone else.

I think PS3news is a very creditable site they are not going to shoot you any Bull.They might be sitting on it because there is a major firmware upgrade coming in March upon console release in Eup.So if they release now that would give Sony time to patch it.

Why would they sit on it? The major upgrade in March is just one of hundreds of future firmware upgrades. As soon as they release it in March wont Sony just release an upgrade straight after to close the hole?

No the Firmware upgrade they going to released is rumor to have alot to do about security which is not a normal firmware update.If you read there site its still in the faze of being tested also.But has said to work so they can take long as they want because i want it to work and not be a waste of time.Plus there only one game out there on PS3 that a must have right now.
