tried to rip matrix and x-men dvd using smart ripper, dvdshrink,dvddecrypter etc on a winxp system using sony cdu1621 dvdrom as well as sony dw u10a drives.the movie would rip to 50% and stop.the particular vob file has been identified where the ripping stops.
the same question had been posted for another dvd - AMELIE on this forum but there were no replies. can anyone help ?

Hi!
are sure that these DVDs are dual-layer?
If yes the following must help:
-Go to the Sony website and update the firmware and the drivers of your DVD drive.
-Search and find if you DVD can read this kind of discs.
-Try to rip the same DVDs in a computer with another DVD drive. Do they work?
- Download the lastest ASPI drivers. Find them here: YOU WERE WARNED!

lol - maybe they are DVD-10. Did you try turning the disc over?

Actually on second thoughts, it wouldnt stop at 50%, it would be complete. What does it tell you when it stops?

Thanx both of u for replies.Lets go into details now:
1.total size of x-men dvd is 7.8gb
2.Its main movies file are vts_04_00 to vts_04_05
3.smart ripper 2.41 stops after ripping 17% of
vts_04_02. Just stops -no error message.
4.dvddecrypter also stops ripping at 17% of the same file.
Addl.info:The movie plays fine in powerdvd5 (on pc) aws on my standalone dvd player.
my win aspi is uptdated and running

Something similar happens with MATRIX .
Are these VOB files corrupt?Any workaround?
Does layer break causes ripping problems?

Please enlighten ME

Have you tried to change some settings?
Make sure that you have version 2.41 of SmartRipper and try these:
- In movie Tab change VOB file access between normal and aspi.
-Change key check to every chapter
-in options check Fast Error skip
Maybe this helps. Actually I don't had any problem with The Matrix with these, I haven't tried X-Men 2
