400W replacement laser issue

hi all, hope evry1 is well.

just have a question regarding the 3rd part manufactured 400c/b replacement lasers.

i have recently purchased the 400W laser but am having problems upon installation.
i have removed the anti-static blob and installed it. the laser shows a beam or light : ) and drive spins when game is in drive but the screen stays at 'reading disk' i then went through the 'disk read error' fix procedure but i have had no luck.

if anyone has information regarding anything to do with this 400W laser, it would be fantastic and much appreciated.

i just cant get it to read disks :(

What was the original laser type that was in the console? What version is the console?

hello modgod,

I have a ps2 v5 with 400C laser.

hence buying the 400W replacement, i did a lot of research before buying this laser and found that it has been successful for many users, and am not sure what i have done wrong, if anything.

400C lasers were typically not ones that needed replacing. What was your diagnostic process to determine the laser was bad and not another component?

400C lasers go bad just like any other laser.

Did the console work fine with the 400C when this console ended up in your hands? Have you tested this laser in a different console that is known working with its 400C? Have you measured the pots on the 400W to see what they are set at?

the original laser had burnt out after i had tried to load a few exploits to the mem card, and after physically examining it, realised it is also damaged.

as for the 400W, i have not tested pot as i do not have an Ohmmeter for it, is there another method? i have tried to look for pot thread and info but have not fully understood the procedures, each site had different methods. Despite this, what should the pot readings be for the 400W, same as the 400C recommended?
However, from the site I had purchased the new laser, i have been told no adjustments are needed.

There is also a chip on the motherboard that can cause the laser to burn out. I think it's the 6508 chip, and v9 PS2's needed a "Romeo mod" to lower the power to this chip (from 12V to 5V if I remember correctly).

What version PS2 do you have SCPH-XXXXXX

its a v5/6 30003r, i think i listed this info before.

And wasnt the LA6508/Laser failure mainly on v9 & v10 ps2 due to the 12v supply going to the 6508 chip, the romeo mod just reduced this to 5volts.
