V4 / Duo3 Gold booting issues

Greetings -

I am putting a Duo3 Gold into a V4...here are my current symptoms:

- PS2 CD-R backups (imation media, Half-Life and THPS3) will boot no problem
- PS2 DVD-R backups (Ritek G04, Viewtiful Joe and GTALCS) will appear to boot but not actually start. What i mean by this is that i hear it start to read the disk, the whirling electrons dissapear on the screen (quite quick i might add - my Duo2 / V7 usually gets all the way through the animation, but this guy will barely let the green one back on the screen), and i'd say 50 percent of the time i get a PlayStation2 logo. regardless of if i get the logo, the laser will either stop moving or just continually move and all i see is a black screen. I should also note that i NEVER get a red screen of death. Once in a while it will go back to the browser window if i wait long enough, yet it will tell me that i have a PS2 disk in the drive. if i select it, it just does exactly the same thing it does on boot.

It's been awhile since i've chipped a ps2 so i can't recall which of the wires do what, but i seem to remember there are a few wires i should check if i can boot Cd-Rs but not DVD-rs....any help?
