hi guys, i converted a movie after extraction and went through the process of convert to dvd as i have before
seemed to go ok, the video quality is great, yet for some reason the sound goes quiet and at points i cant hear anything.

initially i thort it was the scart on dvd player so i moved and the sound came back, but as soon as let go it went again!!

tried in another dvd player and dvd wouldnt play properly and it wouldnt even play in my ps2! altho other movies i have burnt this way have played fine.

am i missing something here!! whats with the scart as i dont need to adjust with other dvds

This tells you straight away that something is amiss with the connector and/or the cords used in the connections. Time for replacement?

Your second issue of DVD's not playing correctly in some other types of players, may be due to the type of media and it's quality. Other reasons are due to burning speeds, software used and so on. Post as much info as you can on the following;

1) Media type.
2) Software used, and how you use it.
3) Being as things have worked well in the past, what changes in software and/or it's operation, have been made since then?

Cheers.

hiya,

i must admit, i only moved scart initially as i thort i had loosened it!

only 2 things i have done diff, are the media i have been gettin has changed, new dvds are unbranded tdk, they were useless for back up ps2, but have burnt several films to them and they seem to work fine for films.

so that would leave the fact that i had to extract the film and use the convert to dvd software!! other than this i have done nothing else different.

thort poss dodgy file but the film plays fine on laptop from its location and the dvd plays fine in comp!!??

so if it is the media, is it just burnin bad with my convert software as the other films i have either used windvd creator!!

if so, should i try to burn with other software, if so any suggestions as im left with a audio and video file and for instance i have DVD Decrypter which i use for iso.

My alarm bells are ringing loud and clear.

Now there's food for thought! Converting doesn't appear to be an issue, having said that, use the search function at the top of the page and type in your file types and convert and hit the go button. You may find an alternative software solution.

The issue I would be most concerned with, is the type and quality of media used. Bad media is just plain bad. Problems also occur with burning speeds. Generally speaking, halve the speed the media is rated at, use 8X or 4X for better results, and don't multitask when processing your backups. Others have posted comments on errors and failures while doing so.

If you want additional software and or guides for backingup, try these, Alkohol and bbmayo, have what you need.

Keep us posted on how you go. If this resolves your dilema, you can then share it with others.

Cheers.
