This is a pretty straightforward question.
HD Loader will allow you to copy and play games from your PS2's hard drive. Is there a program to do the same for PS1 games?

all you can play off a hard drive is ps2 games. if you want to play psx you have two options. one get a modchip install in your ps2 or ps1 that way you can play burned copys of psx games on cd-r media. two buy a boot disc like breaker pro and boot your copyed psx games with a boot disc. i hope this helps.
Ps2 v7
DMS4 Pro SE Modchip
Taiyo Yuden DVD-R
Taiyo Yuden CD-R

P.S. i know how to burn PS2 games... and i did it exactly like that just with a CD... so that shouldn't be it, right?

Well it is the same thing with Swap Magic you can only play PS2 games. The swap magic cd is for PS2 cd games. My solution I use the latest emulator for PC and my xbox 360 controller on my PC to play the roms. Works great need a decent PC though I am not sure how decent but I have a dual 3ghz cpu and a mediocre aftermarket Nvidia graphics card with 1gig of ram.

... That doesn't make any sense. To boot a game from the hard drive, one would need to have a specific program loaded either on the memory card (and executed by the independence exploit) or a combination of Swap Magic/GameShark/Breaker Pro/CD Loader/whatever.
What I am asking is: Does such a program exist? =)

Quote: or a combination of Swap Magic/GameShark/Breaker Pro/CD Loader/whatever.
What I meant to say was:
or a burned copy of the program on a CD/DVD (and executed by a combination of Swap Magic/GameShark/Breaker Pro/CD Loader/whatever).

i don't think so. i just spent the last half hour scouring sites for SOMETHING regarding it. i think it might have something to do with the fact the ps2 needs to load HDLoader/HD Advance using an original PSX disc, but i'm not sure. i'd love to hear confirmation on this, or an actual explanation of why it can't be/hasn't been done. til then, i've got a modded psone and ps2fatty (which will soon have HDL)
does it r0x0r j00r b0x0rz?
yes, my pants are quite happy :D

if your asking about using HDloader when it is a burned copy, then why wouldn't you?
it's called the "MC Exploit" google that and it should come up with the answer, i can't remember what it is offhand... i'lll do some more searchin for you

er i was referring to why i think you can't load psx isos off the hdd. never found an answer to why. what i said was just my suspicion. i could be wrong and i'd like to be proven one way or the other because it bothers me not knowing this when in theory it should work fine.
does it r0x0r j00r b0x0rz?

i know, but there's NO documentation as to why you can't, any attempts, nothing. there has to be a GOOD reason it can't be done. and i'll even accept 'no one bothered to code an ELF for it'. consider it closure heh. but i'd really like to know the reason...i've about given up for the night though, i found no info anywhere other than multiple hits for the independence exploit.

uh, bribery never works on the internet and often has the opposite effect when it's something YOU want. secondly...please tell me you know what an elf is and you're not just repeating what i said.
in the meantime, i think i'm gonna have to settle for the only two options i have right now - my pc and my psp. i just don't really feel too keen on spending more money on another 4 gig memory card just for ps1 games...

An elf is an executable file for a PS2,
You cannot play PS1 backup games because the PS2 actually runs a PS1 emulator to run PS1 games.
You have some options tho
You can get your PS2 chipped
You can use Breaker Pro
or if you can load a memory card exploit there is an elf called PSXLOADER or PSXLAUNCHER that works fine this is the methode that I use most of the time for PS1 backups
V9 PS2,Flip top,KeyLauncher,HDA on MC Exploit
SMCoder
Breaker Pro
Nero, DVDDecrypter, Poweriso

There are plenty of tutorials around but you have to have a fat PS2
from what I understand,
The exploit is sometimes called the Independance Exploit
V9 PS2,Flip top,KeyLauncher,HDA on MC Exploit
SMCoder
Breaker Pro
Nero, DVDDecrypter, Poweriso

no one's found a way to access that emulator then? in find that a bit odd especially given the voracity of homebrew coders, especially psp programmers (yea they're different but run similar lines to me). must be a good reason, at least i hope. and i have a modded ps2, and a modded ps1 as well as a custom psp but as i've said further up but that's not the point. if i'm putting ps2 isos on my hdd so i DONT have to use the discs as well as save my laser which is half dead anyway...why would i want to carry a ps2 full of ps2 games, and a bunch of ps1 discs? seems redundant to me, so i'm looking for an answer that doesn't consist of the obvious. which, btw, thanks for pointing out something that was said like, three times in this thread alone and countless other threads. that helped tons.

It just seems that someone would be able to do this. I mean, there are WAY HARDER things done than this.
Seems like an elf could be made to load iso->with psx emu
And yes, I know, I can't do it either.
Friends broke PS2 with Network Adapter - $0
MC jacked from Flockfluster - $0
ARMAX jacked from Damestop - $0
200GB HD on eGay - $40
HDL v0.8b via exploted MC - Priceless!

that's what i said. i'd do it myself as someone's definitely gonna say eventually, but i can't code for my life. i prefer hardware.
there's gotta be a good reason it hasn't been done. i mean, if it's built in it should be easy, but it's not done so i'm curious as to why
