Hi,

i just managed to Rip one of my Laurel and Hardy dvd's onto my hdd and am now encoding it into mp4 using pspvideo9.

the file was around 3 gigs when i stripped all the bullcrap menus and special features out and just started encoding it, its on about 20% so far and im woried it may not fit on my 1gb mem stick pro duo.

main reason im asking is if it doesnt fit is their any way to compress the video down by a bit so i can fit it on, or should i re-encode the IFO in a lower quality so i may have a better chance of it working.

Any responses regarding my question would be really great and anything else i am always happy to reply =)

Raw Video is always large so, if you ripped it without encoding, I'm not surprised that it is around 3 gigs. Converting it to mp4 will GREATLY decrease its size and I guarantee that it will fit on your 1 GB memory stick if it's 3 gigs when it's raw video.

thanks for the feedback, i managed to get it to 780mb which is good and considering it was a black and white film its quality was brilliant.

im wondering how i could get a film that may be ripped for 7gigs compacted onto my 1gb card though, what encoding format should i used on pspvideo9 or should i buy a 2gig card or 4gig.

Using these settings:

[368x208/29.97fps/QB10 Stereo/96kbps]

I can compress a half hour long Invader Zim episode to, on average, 40mb. There is a noticable but not too significant decrease in quality when using these settings, but the decrease in file size makes up for it.

However, PSPVideo9 does not have these settings; I use 3GP converter. It's less user friendly but works better IMO. The best advice I can give you is to experiment with lower quality settings until you get one that you like.
