why do people try to shortcut when they type? it drives me nuts as hell whe nsomeone PM's me with a question on IRC and it is barely readable - "n e one know wot dat is for" - i mean uuuugghhhh, english motherf*cker, do you speak it? it has to take longer to type that shit that just plain normal english. from this point forward, i will no longer respond to that stupid garbage. here's a small list for those who actually cannot type english
wot - should be WHAT
dis - should be THIS
da - should be THE
n e - should be ANY
I'm sorry but this crap just annoys the hell out of me. If your english isn't very good and you seriously dont know how to spell, fine, thats ok, do what you gotta do. but if you can speak english, you can type english (yes tom i mean you). I will no longer acknowledge this garbage. sorry

Yeah, in my opinion if the abbriviation is only 1 or 2 characters less than the word, it shouldn't be used. Many people don't understand the difference between live chat and a forum.
Other pet peaves of mine are no paragraph breaks, or sometimes no punctuation at all.

Great! Now I'm going to have to watch Pulp Fiction tonight.
And speaking of cult classics, did anybody else notice Kentucky Fried Movie is now on DVD?

You can chalk all this up to laziness. I mean if people had to choose between 'the' and 'da', they would go for the one with the fewest amount of letters, even if the difference is only 1.
Also, and i may be wrong, but Im betting people think its cool to shorten or butcher(however you want to look at it)words.

Nonsense speak is the hot thing these days.
Trust me in a few years complete sentences and proper spelling will be the new hot thing. Heck everyone will be writing like an English professor.

Ok, if you'll read up to the.... seccond reply I think, I noticed this guy made up big words to make himself seem smarter.... and somebody agreed with him? Well I took a short trip to Dictionary.com and here is the results:
No entry found for acynomes.
Did you mean cynomys?
No entry found for leathality.
Did you mean lethality?
No entry found for Biochemsitry.
Did you mean Biochemistry?
The Digital Mafia For Life!!!

No, nYd, Prisoner is smart; he just can't spell to save his life. He helped me through a lot of issues when I was still a newbie, and rather than simply giving me the answers, he phrased his responses in ways that forced me to do some thinking.
There's a huge difference between not being able to spell and not bieng smart. Prisoner is one of the good guys here, imho. (in my humble opinion.)

Perfect spelling and/or grammar doesnt determine a person's IQ level.
Besides I think Prisoner was just in a hurry to post his reply and didnt do a spell check, or he had tons more of threads to reply to that checking for every mistake in a given post seems like a waste.

Ill have to make sure to carry a tape recorder around just in case I start up a conversation with someone who speaks like that so I can analyze each sentence later and hopefully make some sense out of it.

nYd - the spelling isnt a sign of stupidity or making up own words. I believe Prisoner probably meant Acronym from his spelling. Its just usually a fast type error with me.

well ali G must have seriously flunked out of any english course he ever took. if you really want to start a new language, move to the middle of nowhere and do it, just dont bring that shit to me and expect me to respond. And what the hell kinda name is Ali G? I'm sure his momma must be proud, her little boy who was probably born Alex gibson or something grew up to be Ali G.

All I was doind was raggin' on the guy because he was agreeing to how people can't take the time to use proper english (and something you would do to accomplish proper english would in fact be proper spelling)

not to everyone. most people have a whole word as a last name. unless of course, if you're retarded, i can see where 1 letter would be better.

That's not saying much for the mentally challenged...
I actually meant Ali G sounds better as a stage name than Alex Gibson. If that was his real name, I dont think he'd be as popular if he had used that rather than Ali G.
Look at eminem, his real name is marshal mathers, do you think hed be as popular as he is now if he used that instead? I dont, heck hed probably be pegged as trailer park trash. A lot of popular people, and Im going to add Ali G in this, add some sort of twist or use different names altogether because their real names probably wouldnt draw in as much attention as they want.
P. Diddy---Sean Combs
Kid Rock---Bob Ritchie
Vanilla Ice---Robert Van Winkle
Ok he really had no choice in this matter. Who in their right minds would listen to a rap album made by a "Van Winkle"? Ok so you could say the same thing about the name "Vanilla Ice", but it fit the image of a white guy rapping.
