I remember a situation involving mental illness from not long ago. The reason I remember was the criminal died in prison while awaiting execution. He had been locked up for a long time due to mental illness. After a lot of years he was found competent to stand trial. He was tried and sentenced to death. But as I mentioned, he died from multiple illnesses before execution (what illnesses not mentioned).
I've heard some health professionals say mental illness is incurable and that it can only be treated with varying levels of success. For example, schizophrenia is treatable with drugs. Problem is when the patients are acting normal they think they don't need the drugs. When left on their own most stop taking the drugs and start exhibiting symptoms again. The symptoms are treatable, but the illness still exists. Most professionals are finally coming to the conclusion sociopaths are incurable. They were born lacking the psychological imprinting needed to properly fit into society. Those are the ones we see in the news (serial killers and mass murderers). With the Keys child, I'm left wondering if he is a victim of conditioning or has a mental illness. That will most likely be determined before trial.

You make a good point , but the asylum hospitals-and I use that term loosely- have a finite number of beds just as the prisons have cells; and must push some "cured" out the door to make room for others. These are the ones that are potential time bombs. There are no easy solutions. Politicians just throw money at both problems. JM2C

I know how you feel. I have Safety/Quality classes coming up...last year they used a cartoon to tell us how to get a Giraffe and an elephant to work together (diversity training). We also have a rules class every year we have to attend that takes 8 hours. We go over our rules books, which are as thick as two Harry Potter books put together, and then tested on it (FRA requirement). The funny thing is the test answers always seem to get left in the copy machine two weeks before the test and the testers leave the room when the tests are handed out. :D

And that's the way it should remain! I survived CE-the kicker was the speaker was a dentist from U Florida with whom we have a big game tomorrow night. I have two SEC alma maters LSU and Tennessee-Both dreaded enemies of Florida.
Back in college-UT, it seems my roommate was doing a physiology prof's secretary. She gave us 90% of the final exam. Sweet at the time. Actually the class was pretty easy anyway.

actually, i do enjoy it. in a few hours, i should be able to cut pretty much all we'll need all winter as well as clear out a lot of the storm damage created over the past few years.
plus, it will make my parents happy. :-)
if all goes well, this will be my last project for them 'til i remodel their bathroom this christmas.

oak is the gist of it. possibly some hickory and definitely cedar. :-)
they're basically giving me an interest-free loan on school: they're making the minimum payments 'til i get out, then i pick them up. they don't even care if i pay them back for what they've covered (i will), but i feel the least i can do is help out around the place when i'm back home. both my parents work too much to get many projects done, and i typically do them so much faster, anyway, lol.
i may only be 20, gm, but if you give me a completely trashed and run-down house with nothing but a decent foundation, i can rebuild it without any real strain. in fact, my plan after graduating is just that: finding a crappy place and flipping it around work.
i also do groundskeeping (hell, did it professionally for a while), basic automotive maintenance and repair, and computer repair. i won't even dig into all the crap i could tutor for. ^.~
Auslander is proud to be quite useful in nearly any situation. :-P
*edit*
and don't even get me started on survivalism. i'm a real ready-when-TSHTF type of guy. XD

While I was looking around the site for a guide on how to post a
picture, I saw yours. You do NOT look like a nerd!
I detest having my picture taken. However, for those of you
that want to see who you are talking to check out this thread.

How do you plan on rolling that hickory or do you prefer the pipe? LMAO
@Aus
Some woman's gonna snatch your a$$ up for just being a handyman, and as greenman's so eloquently put it, a handman to boot.

Sounds like your in for a good night. I checked your thread but I am not sure what to do late in the night. Personally I would have just gone with a movie or something else "traditional" but I read you don't want to do something on that line.
Sorry I am not better at coming up with ideas however, I thought I would say I hope it all works (or worked, depending on when you read this!) out for the best.
Good Luck my friend! :-)
Peace

My bitch of today, my dad's "new" FJ Cruiser just got ran into about an hour ago!
He bought it two days ago, a used 2007, and then tonight my mom and dad were heading home after seeing a movie and they were in the right turning lane. This lady behind them for some reason, i am not sure why as i wasn't with them, ran into the back of the FJ.
The damage isn't way bad but it sucks as its basically a brand-new vehicle still. Lucky for the girl who ran into them she didn't hit the very middle of the bumper as its got a nice thick metal bar, about 6-8 inches from where she hit, that probably would have caused her airbags to deploy.
