Hi I just bought a pioneer DVr-104. The specs say it can write at 2x. But I can only seem to get it to write at 1x. I've already backed up a dvd5 and a dvd9 by cutting ht emenus and extras. IT took an hour. I know it should be faster and should write at 2x any Idea as to what the problem is? I'm using "Optodisc" from newegg could that be the problem? Thanks for the info. Just noticed the very end of the movies are messed up.

A04/104 has set of instructions on its firmware that allows 2x burning only when used specific disc brands, the list can be found from Pioneer's website -- those include only the most expensive discs, like Pioneer's own, Apple and TDK.

Bhawksq,
For links to the most up-to-date firmware try -

http:\\www.dvdrwservices.com

If you're running your burner on an IDE cable, try changing its location. If it's a USB connection and it's NOT 2.0, you?re probably not going to do much faster.

The above is working on the premise that you have enough resources on board "Mr. Puter" -

Good Luck,

Your best bet for faster riping/burning speed is to get some hacked firmware for your drive.

I carn't say where you can obtain this from as it is against AD rules and we must all respect them!

Just have a little google and you will find them Bhawksq.

Good luck ;D
