I dont know any sites but I might be able to help you since im trying to become a racing driver I do know alot about cars.
what type of tunning?
Exterior?
Eg.Neons,Tint
Or Engine Internals?
Eg.Turbo,Nos,Supercharger,Port Polish.
A mirage would be one of them cooler cars if you tune it liek a Evo while a Tarus would be more muscly then the Mirage it wouldnt look as good so its your choice the Horse power or the Looks?

a mirage would be fast if tuned right.its not the car its the mechanic that makes a difference.ive seen a datson 120B doing over 300kmph but it had a skyline engine in it and about $18000 worth of work done on it.dont know much about a ford tarus ive driven a ford eb falcon with a custom carby and 2 fuel injecting swirting fuel into it and it was quick.

for the body kit for the taurus you might need to get 1 custom made its $1000-$5000 here to get 1 made but i think your in american so it might be cheaper or more expensive.for both cars if u want good performance stickj a souped up jap high powered turbo engine in them.i'd say an american V8 or V12 engine but there only small cars so the engine probably wouldnt fit.just depends how much money u want to spend and whether you want your car to look good or go hard.i'd prefer a car that look crap and goes hard then a flash looking car that barely runs.

I would consider the Taurus to be dead weight IMO, so if you had to choose from the two, go with the Mirage.

If I were you, I'd wait to accumulate enough money to buy an older performance car from an auction somewhere and work up from there. The cars you have now don't really allow much room for improvement because they were never really meant to be upgraded, and most upgrades you can get for either are more than likely something cheap like light fixtures or tinting or something trivial like that.

If you want a Real performance car, try looking for some online forums about people who own performance cars. As for parts, I would recommend http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ for audio parts if that's what you're looking for, but I don't have any car parts site that I can think of other than checking eBay.

If Im online, Im usually on Steam:

cold air intake would be better.as for the engine boxster engines(porche,suburu) are very quick.rotarys(mazda rx-7&8) are quick.most jananese turbo engines are quick in general although i prefer rotarys and boxsters.best bet is do some research on engines/kws&hp and see what kinda car you want.ive driven a suburu and it was very fast and beautiful on the corners.ive been in a R-33 skyline with a customised godzilla skyline and i swear it hit 120kmph in about 2seconds or less.go have a chat to some mechanics,look at some professionally done up cars and choose for yourself what you want.

Seriously with all you want to spend you'd get a Bill of about 15,000usd for all the parts.
Here is what I think I dont prefer neither cars for tunning.
Why?
Mirage;
Very Weak,Called "Unrelaible" Thats why producion stopped overall a weak car no better then a Hyuandai Excel or a Daewoo Lanos all in the same class,they arent really sporty cars.
Taurus;
Heavy like 1 1/2+ tones,Parts are very expensive,Turbo Cannot be installed A superchager must be used as a turbo isnt compatible a Tarus is similar to a Nascar but a road version,Very shit steering system,looks crap when modded around the exterior nothing suits it neons etc.

Overall Why not just sell a car keep the money you were willing to spend and go out and buy something like an Evo 4,5 or even 6 I think you could get a good prioce on any of them and all Have AMZING performace they are light, fuel efficient,Look great from the outside even stock,have a cool spoiler "Evolution spoiler",Fast,All terain car (Take it to dirt and road,snow) Evo 6 has a computirized system which you pick out of Dirt,Tarmac,Snow and it auto sets up gears,ratios etc for the terrain cool ha?.

Evo 4 (IV)

Evo 5 (V)

EVO (VI)

A Tarus body weighs a heck of alot most japansese engines are 4cyl,6cyl,rotary,Boxer they harldy ever have V8,V10,V12 excvept Racing Cars.
Consider my last post!
