i am trying to backup a movie that is split onto two sides of a double sided single layered dvd. i have tried to merge the vob. files with VOBmerge 2, but when i get to the dvd2one part, I end up with 2 program chains to choose from. can anyone help?

Rip as normal using DVD Shrink or something. Rip to two folders. Then use TMPGEnc DVD AUthor to select all the VOB's from both folders together in the right order, then create an output. It may need to be compressed. Check out the user guide in my signature below:
