Can cell phones crash a PS2 Slim?

recently i was over at a friends house and witnessed a strange almost to strange a thing. We were playing the Slim and her Cell phone went off, and bam the slim went nuts and just shut off. This is not just a one time thing it has happened multiple times and yesterday the slim just stoped working for her. wont load the games or Dvds, all it does is turn on and read the MC. The slim is one of the newer slims i believe it was a scph-77001 something like that, i dont have it with me. Anyways i was wondering if you guys have heard anything like this before, and how can i fix this problem?
