hi, i just needed to ask a question or 2. 1.on a scale of 1-10, how hard is it to install a ps2 modchip?#
2.are their any courses in soldering in birmingham, uk?
3. wer can i get Taiyo yuden dvd's for under £25 for 100? (DVD-R 8X)
Its not hard to install a chip, the problem is whether or not you have a good amount of experience, If you have soldered before, and are confident, and have precision, then it shouldnt be hard, but if you have NO experience, then dont try and mod the system yourself.
Also, heres a ebay link where theres 100 taiyo yuden dvd-r's currently going for 99p, you can have a try at those if you want.

thanks 4 the quick reply! ok, is there any way i can practice precision soldering that you can reccomend? i might just get a starter soldering kit with a stand, solder, flux paste, and a 15W iron. and how long do i need to practice for on average? im still in secondary school, picking my options this year, and def picking tech and metalworks.
ok, im being a hypocrite now, I wouldnt recommend you do the soldering yourself(even though I was only 14 when i first modded a ps2, YEAH REAL HYPOCRITE), LOL!!!
Your going to need real steady hands, the solder joints on the ps2 motherboard are very close together, which means your going to have to be very careful when applying the solder, if you bridge a connection, then you might have difficulty desoldering it. BTW, have you actually opened up your slimline, to have a look at the points to which you need to solder to?
yup, i have had a look. way too close together. i have opened it up plenty of times, even yesterday to drill some holes in the casing. and dont worry, im not modding my own ps2, i just want to mod consoles in the future. im getting mine modded off of the internet.i goto a school thats an hour away, in the countryside. my local schools are crap, i know people who have been stabbed there. the school i goto is good, but the tech area is crap, thats why we have connections and arrangements with other schools and colleges. we sometimes go to the other schools to learn welding n stuff. the soldering irons in my school are crap too. the school on my road is a technology skl, i should have gone there, but its generally a crap skl.
