How do I uninstall or remove a softmod?

I have a softmodded xbox with UnleashX on it. And I'am trying to get XBL running again. But when I try to connect it says no connection when cearly it is connected. I was wondering if uninstalling the mod would help fix the problem. When it says no connection it says the cables are connected.
