just a quick query i have just applied the firmware hack to my xbox 360 and created a backup of call of duty and when i put the disk in it makes a squeeking noice for a few seconds before loading the disk, is this normal?

the media is trax data 2.4 speed disks
the drive is a sony AW G170A

i didn't set the booktype to dvdrom for this first backup could that cause it?
the disk doesnt read first time every time either i sometimes have to give it a wipe.

Burn at 4x with Verbatim DVD+R DL and you won't ever have a problem.

you got a cheap source for the verbatim media coz those disks are pretty expensive

Nope, but sometimes you can catch Best Buy have a 20 pack for $29.99.
Newegg.com has them routinely at $33.99
I figure even at non sale price of $49.99 for 20 discs is still cheaper than actually buying one 360 game.
