i tried to use dvd fab 3 to rip saw 3 and a box popped up that said it was unable to get disc information. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

DVDfab should have no problem with backing up this movie, make sure you're using the latest version:

DVDFab

Take a look at the disk and make sure it's clean (wipe off any smudges you see), if it's badly scratched or you have a bad press, return it and retry with the new disk.
