Do newly manufactured 360's still get hardware errors?

I brought an 360 two weeks ago and already it has died out on me (3 red lights). The most I ever played it was in 1 hour sessions and I took proper care.

I am wondering if newly produced 360s still do this, because I wouldn't be surprised if the 360 I got was manufactured many months ago.

I plan to get a refund/exchange for new one, because I've read about the pathetic customer service from M$ and will not accept that kind of crap.

My ps1 outlasted the length of time before it had an error --

box it up and take it to walmart and tell them you lost the receipt but you bought it like a week ago and you just want to exchange it, more times than not you can just exchange it and back about your business
