How do I know I am in 720p with PS3?

I just got a new HDTV and have no clue if I am looking at 480p or 720p. When I set it up with the ps3 i checked my tv supports 480p, 720p, & 1080i which it does. Now if I play resistance will it automatically put it to 720p since it only supports that? What do I look for?

I dont know about ou tv, but mine switches according to the best pic, if I am playing 1080i it swithes or if I am playing 780p it sxitches automatically... I think theres a setting in the ps3 settings for pic format.. But I think regardless if its set to 1080i or 780i, it will auto select to the best format of the game output... I may be wrong, but thats how mine works..

pick auto on your display. first of all you do have an HDMI cable connected right? if you pick auto, it should use whats best that your HDTV can take.
