Isn't that a Sony DVD burner? Why do you need 2x discs on a 4x burner?

Im well confused. Are you womdering whether Sony DVD-R will work in a Pioneer DVR105. If so, your question is strange. I assume that a Sony DRU500 is a writer. What is a 2x DVD-R Sony DRU500? Are you mixing up the media with the writer?

The discs are Maxell so they should be fine burning at 2x on your Pioneer 105.

As discmania says, there shouldnt be a problem with them, unless of course they are grade B material

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but from what I heard Maxell does not make unbranded media. I know some people who purchased these discs from the same seller and they were terrible. Check the Maxell website and see if in fact they do or do not make these. Good luck with them.

LOL - I dont know who makes them, but it still stands to check for grade B material. Do you know who does make these discs elfstone? Could they be re-labelled maxells?

No, I don't know who makes them, but a friend of mine purchased these discs (100 pack) and I think he was only able to burn about 8 of them. They were crap. Real thin and the dye had a lot of spots on them. I took 2 home with me to try to use them on my Panasonic DMR E30 and it wouldn't even recognize a disc being in the tray. Hopefully the guy who bought them here has better luck with them.

Yeah, if they dont work I will be getting my money back. I had emailed him and told him about some of the things people are saying about the discs, also I had emailed some of the people on ebay who have already bought them asking how they liked them and how they worked...but waiting for them to get back to me. I just wanted to try something new because Ritek's were getting real spendy.

Yeah, i can understand your reasoning. However, i got a bad burn with an Unbranded Ritek and have now moved up a level to the Traxdata Riteks. They are about 10p more, but the quality is unsurpassed, except maybe by Pioneers own brand.

I have always used Ritek G03's and never had any problems with them really, maybe a couple. Another reason Ive been looking for another brand because I heard the Ritek's only last 5 years.... Does anyone know if that is really true? I would like to try something new but if it costs me more money in the long run trying new types and having them not work, I will just go back to the Ritek's.

Riteks are estimated to last for 20+ years. no one knows for sure. The reason why they wont last for longer, and normal DVD's will, is down to the ORGANIC dye used on the writing surface. This tends to eventually disintegrate. normal DVD Movies are pressed and so contain no organic dyes.

When I buy media for my computer burner, I generally stick with name brand media and get it when it's on sale. I don't think I've ever paid full price for the media (Fuji, TDK, Maxell, Memorex, Sony, etc). For my Panasonic DMR-E30 -R media I use name brand, but I also use Samsung Beall and Optodisc blue top discs. I haven't had much problems with the Optodisc (except for the last batch) and never had a coaster with the Samsung. However, the price of these two are at or above what Maxell, Sony, TDK, Fuji, etc., are when they are on sale. On Ebay I would only stick with name brand media and avoid the generic, "OEM" or "just as good as" stuff being flogged there. Generally it's a nightmare waiting to take place.
