I just had a new Lite On CDRW installed and when i try to burn CD's it gives me the message no support drivers available. I have windows ME and adaptec easy CD creator. I have tried to update from Roxio.com with no success. I have tried Nero burner and burnatonce and none of those softwares will let me burn CD's. I got a warning that I am using 2 IDE devices compaq DVD-ROM DVD 116 and HL-DT-ST CDRW GCE-82408 that are connected to the same IDE port.
I did have the CDRW that came with the computer whick went defunk. It was a Phillip CDRW. Keep in mind that I had Sears install this new CDRW and they can't seem it figure it out either. The people at compaq software have given up too. Please can anyone help? I have spent days on this problem. Please keep in laymans terms cause I do not understand alot of computer jargon. thanks

1. Try uninstalling all your CD burning devices and rebooting to have Windows redetect them
2. Your new drive may be too new for WME. Try the LiteOn site for updates (i believe the site is http://www.liteonit.com/)

To Uninstall your Devices
1. Control Panel
2. System Devices
3. Goto the Hardware Tab
4. Device Manager
5. Scroll down to your CD Drives, right click on the offending drives and click uninstall.
6. Reboot away

1. Does the NeroInfotools that comes with Nero properly detect your burner?
2. ASPI issues?
3. Any luck with LiteOn drivers/firmware updates?

I reinstalled the drivers that did not help. I changed jumpers to master for DVD abd slave for CDRW. that did not help. I can't find my model number on the Lite on site. Maybe it isn't a lite on. The model # is HL-DT-ST-CDRW GCE-82408. What type is it. can you tell from that number?
thanks

That seems reminicient of an LG burner (which would be a big drop in quality) from a LiteOn. Perhaps you should pay the LG site a check to make sure (i would, but im on 56K now hehe). I believe their webpage is http://www.lge.com

Another thing you can check is to see if NeroInfoTools can identify your burner... sometimes if gives a different (and more informative) name for those obscure codes.

OK, whenever you install a new CD drive you need to install the update. You are obviously using an old version of Easy CD Creator, as you mention it was made by Adaptec. Since version 5 Roxio has made the new version of Easy CD creator.

The version you have isn't licensed for use with your CD burner. You'll have to buy a newer version. The reason they restrict the version that came with your origianl CD-RW is the exact one you are running into now; you like the software, and now that you have new hardware, you need to now buy the software.

You have an LG (Lucky Goldstar\Hitachi) cd burner, not a LiteOn . Chances are you're using outdated burning software. Try burnatonce 0.99 (freebie) and see if this program recognizes your cd burner. Be sure your using the latest firmware for your LG cdrw m8.

burnatonce 0.99 :http://www.burnatonce.com/downloads/
The Firmware Page : http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php

If you need help flashing your LG drive (if applicable) please post before flashing! Many here don't endorse Roxio products so maybe consider Nero Burning Rom 6.0.0.11

Be sure that one drive is set to master(preferably Compaq) and one drive se to slave(preferably LG).

A warning too: with LG burners make sure you do not burn more than 30 cds a week otherwise your burner will die in very short order. I learned this the hard way .... my poor 48x24x48.... *sniffle*
