After I downgraded my psp to 1.5 the screen went blank (i thought i'd bricked it) but then whenever i plug in and then unplug the power adapter the screen becomes visible again. I then upgraded to 3.03 OE-C, and that runs fine, but when i try to run any homebrew games I have the same problem with my screen going blank.

Any idea how i can solve this?

after u downgraded did u take the battery out and forget to put it back in?

No, i didn't take anything out of my psp. I updated from 2.81 to 3.03, then downgraded using the unpatched liberty city stories. Then i got the blue screen of death, and when i pressed circle i had a blank screen with the sound working. But i plugged in the power cable and unplugged it, and suddenly i could see what i was doing. I upgraded to 3.03 OE-C, and now whenever i do anything that seems to use 1.5 i get the blank screen again

hmm that's odd. when you don't have the ac charger plugged in shine alight on the psp and see if u can see stuff in the background. if u can then ur backlight went out...well one level of it.

Aah yes i can, but only if i look extremely closely

Any idea how to restore the backlight if possible?

buy a new one.

EDIT:
dont ask me where to get it but there is a registry file u can copyto ur psp to hold it at the same brightness level as if u had the charger in. google it.
