Hello!
I am just wondering if we have changed the way you get promoted to a higher rank? The reason why I ask is because I have posted 2772 messages here at aD, so wouldn't that make me an addict? I know that safety value postings don't count towards your rank but I don't think I have posted 272 times in the safety value!

4 points.
1.) no counts in All Other Topics, either.
2.) odds are you have posted that much or more there. it's irresistable.
3.) the updater is only run once or twice a month.
4.) why the heck do you care, anyway? haven't there been at least a dozen thread with the resolution that in a forum where rank is based on post count, rank below moderator means jack?

I agree. I like posting on forums where the number of posts count very little so you can just post stuff you want to say.
On aD I only post occasionally because I don't want to pad my post count. I would dislike being a Senior or Addict simply because I posted thousands of...I think so as well...or...I didn't know that...or...thanks very much...posts.

My favorite meat but seems to be one of those that people love or absolutely loathe LOL!

Why do I need one.. There are 3 sites where it says "site admin" after my name. I'm just a persistent n00b. (and an annoying one sometimes)
As ddp puts it "teach and learn". It's true, I learn something new almost every day by investigating other peoples problems and trying to help out. Too many people see the internet as a toy, something to play with (myspace and all that junk) whereas I see it as a vast repository of knowledge. A tool to be used if you don't know or understand something. I like finding things.. the chase being, in many instances, better than the catch.

"Can you see the C: prompt on the screen?"
"What's a sea-prompt?"
