yes, because it can do many features. You can go to Internet (e.g. google.com) and the graphic are great. You can hack the psp without a mod chip. Wonderful things they are ...

It is worth it, but when you Homebrew it, it is AMAZING, and the best system. I currently play it more than my 360.

In terms of what it does, plays Mp3's, Videos, Photos and Games, and for it's price it's EXTREMELY good value for money.
Gay ass Video iPod's which have tiny screens and only play video or photo cost like twice what the PSP usually does.
Especially when you install custom firmware and start using homebrew u'll see it's got amazing capabilities.
Technically in specs it kicks the DS's ass by a mile and has a waaayyyy better homebrew community.

psp consoles are great in multiple ways.
you can play videos (depending on size of your memory stick)
watch photos
listen to music (mp3, wma and some more i think)
and by hacking into the firmware (which voids the warranty) you can run homebrew applications (which are programs people have made) to run emulators (think snes, nes, megadrive soon N64) and you can play your old ps1 games to.
many differant things you can do, but before you downgrade/upgrade you have to check the psp for what firmware its currently on and what motherboard and get your legitimate firmware hacks (www.psp-hacks.com).
but im its definetly worth it.
their is a slight chance you can render your psp useless when downgrading but that only applies to people who mess about with it while its downgrading.
i suggest asking on psp-hacks live chat.

Homebrew is basically running user-made mods, applications or programs on the PSP.
Yes it does void ur warranty but Sony can go eat s***, homebrew allows you to customize the appearance of your PSP, use Emulators (GBA, NES, SNES, MegaDrive, PS1, N64), run ISO's of UMD games, meaning you can download games for your PSP off of say TorrentSpy and run them of your memory stick, and a host of other things.
There are tons and tons of homebrew apps for the PSP, everything from using your PSP as a remote control to playing Quake on it and TONS more is possible with Homebrew.
Word of advice, if you do decide to buy a PSP now, check the FAQ's and Guides on how to tell the firmware of your PSP from the box, it'll be much easier for you to downgrade (so you can run homebrew) if you find a PSP with say firmware 2.71 or lower. Also highly recommended getting a 1Gb Memory Stick or greater, that's about the standard now. (DO NOT BUY THEM OFF EBAY, as their are 100's of fakes floating around there)

amazingly explained above. ;)
But really mate, things CAN go wrong, not everything is as easy as it may sound, but its not difficult either. So take your own risks, remebr it will VOID your warranty and if hardware wise something goes wrong, you cant get a replacement from SOny.

If your wondering between PSP and DS which is better, PSP by a MILESTONE because:
-More powerful, simply put. WAY better specs than the DS, and graphically much more advanced. You want proof compare screenshots of DS to PSP, should be plain obvious.
-Better games, DS is still following on Nintendo's OLD sagas (stupid kiddy games Mario, Yoshi, Wario, Donkey, etc) the PSP has a much more varied and modern selection and far more realistic games.
-MUCH BETTER HOMEBREW, PERIOD. The DS homebrew community is no where near as large as the PSP's. And because the DS has no storage medium, playing ISO's and running user made apps requires expensive cartridges and so on bought off the net to be able to physically store things for the DS. The PSP homebrew scence is a light year of the DS's.
-BETTER DESIGN, bigger screen, more precise controls (Analog Stick) means better looking and playing games. The DS's stylus pen sucks crap for playing anything but Word Puzzles.
-EXCELLANT SECONDARY FEATURES, it plays Video, Music, Photos and can have up to 4Gb of storage space currently. The DS plays DS Cartridges and GBA Cartridges and has 0 Gb of storage space. Nuff said?

Lol your short on money but you wanna buy a PS3. In all fairness the PS3 isn't as a good console as the hype makes it out to be, and very pricey. With the money you spend on a PS3 you could buy yourself a PSP and an Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii.
