hi on my chip there are 2 big red cables 1 goes 2 the 2 the side of a little black chip and the other 2 the side of the mother board i dont know what these cables do if any 1 knows can u plz tell me.but my point is the 1 going to the side of the mother board was pushing the chip down.it was making contaced with the mother board can this be why my laser is doing nothing and the cd tray wont eject and the laser light was not very bright can any 1 plz help thanks.

ive just gave up m8 all of the cd tray does nothing laser comes on for 2 sec but not very bright removed both of the red cables on mod chip done nothig still the same.its a dark blue chip and on the top left hand corner it says dms3 in the middle there is a black chip with actel plus on it.what do the 2 big cables do thanks for your help.

thanks alot on the chip it says v9.so what should i download and how do u do it my laser does nothing and cd tray does not eject so how would i do this do u need to use a disk or are can u use something else like a usb stick.i have another chipped ps2 would that help thanks alot

The two big wires you are referencing are most likely the 3V3 and GND points. Removing them will not let power get to the modchip. If your laser is not working upgrading the flash from a download from sksapps isnt going to do a damn thing for you. It sounds like your issues are unrelated to the chip. Yes you can install HDL to your MC and have the DMS3 V9 boot the elf from the MC in dev1 mode which will allow you to play back-ups you have installed to a HDD. However you will need some way of getting HDl on the MC. If you have another working modded PS2 you can looking booting ULE which will aid you in installing HDL to the MC you plan on using on the DMS3 unit. You would need to install HDL to the MC like this

mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF

Holding triangle from standby and tapping reset enables dev1 mode on the DMS3. If you have done everything right HDL will boot up and allow you to access your HDD. You can then use winhiip to install your back-ups to your PS2's HDD right on your PC also avoiding the use of a laser issue with the console.

I know this is a lot of info to digest for a first timer but if you look around and do a little research you will find it very easy to do.

You might consider sending it to a pro to have it repaired.

No that is what is referred to as the "exploit", with the exploit you need a PS1 original to trigger the exploit. Since your laser isnt working you wont be able to use the exploit either. The exploit is kind of the same idea as what I had mentioned though. But since you have a modchip with dev1 mod you don't need to use the exploit even if you have a working laser.

With the working modded console you can boot ULE from a CD-R, have a look here for the official ULE forum

Once you have ULE running on the working console you can install HDL to mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF and proceed as I had previously stated.

You might be best off at just having it repaired though

hi i put the ps2 in standbye and hold triangle.tap reset brings up this dms3 thing with browser flashing.when i click browser it takes me to the memory card pic with a blue disk beside it.it does not show hdl how do i install it how do i get it to show hdl plz plz help me thanks.
