Whats the best PSP to buy for low firmware?

I was thinking of getting a Pink PSP for the misses but have read that the Pink has pre-installed 2.81 and TA-086 motherboard which is harder to downgrade.

What is the best to go for, black or white?

And where is best to get the lower versions from, ie Argos, Currys etc?

Am I correct in thinking that 2.81 has to be upgraded to 3.03 using an original GTA games, whilst 2.71 can go straight down to 1.5?

if you want a non-ta082 then buy a 1.5fw. but i as far as i know, a lot of PSPers wanted a ta-082 though it's prone to bricking.. i'd say a white psp on e-bay w/ a preinstalled homebrew on 1.5. but i tell you, the lower the fw, the lower campatibility w/ the latest games. so i would suggest a ta-082 psp w/ a custumed fw such as the 3.03oe-c. ;)

You can tell what firmware a PSP has buy looking at the sticker's on it's box when you buy it. Check the guides on how to do this

buy a refurbished one they are cheap, come with a warrenty and they are usually 2.71 or below i got my value pack with everything included and a one year warrenty for $140.00 (fw version was 2.00)
