hi all,
have been using a nokia dbox2 with commando 6 for about a Month now -all good.
I have seen that commando 7 is due out any day but that it does not contain any ROMS or KEYS.
Could someone either tell me how to get the relevant ROMS & KEYS and how to get them to the dbox or point me in the direction of a simple guide, as up to now I have used Easy 123 to flash just the image, services and bouquets
Thanks in advance guys

Commando 7 is released on world-of-digital today at 6pm. I cannot download from there but as soon as someone gets it can they put it rapidshare?
Also, how do you backup the keys and roms from your current image?

Strummer to be honest m8, if commando 6 works a treat then keep it. Commando 7 could run not just aswell as commando 6. I know a few guys who use commando 4 and jedi just because its more stable. The whole idea in these images is to produce more stability. I know you wana test it just like the rest of us lol and go ahead just letting ya know it might not run aswell as C6 is

ok - thanks for the help so far guys
So if I use easy 123 to flash C7 will my existing ROMS & KEYS still
be on my box or should I back them up and flash them over along with the new image - Sorry if this is a dumb question but still learning about the mighty DBox2

You need to back them up and transfer them back once the new image is flashed. It's easier to wait until someone releases it with them included ;-)

Just about everything in these directories;
/var/tuxbox/config
/var/tuxbox/config/newcamd (PLUS OTHER *CAMD's if there are any)
/var/keys
/var/etc
/var/bin
/var/(tuxbox)/scce

I'm using commando 6 at the moment and am having a bit of trouble recording. If I use mgcam, when I record the screen goes blank. If I use evocam, it records OK, then I lose the sound after 20 mins or so. Seems to be OK on playback at the moment.

Excuse me newbies, what's with the sarcasm?
Zappp64 and Fekker (and others), regularly take time out of their day to find solutions to other peoples' problems. What's their reward? It's certainly not nit-picking and "clever" comments..
So cut it out please, we've no room for it..

Nobody said they were posting them, what I said was that someone would post them (somewhere) it's inevitable. I am not claiming that I am capable of compiling this into an image with keys & roms etc in them, only posting an answer that I found on another site of where the keys/roms/cams go to a question on this one. I have not tested it, and have no intention of doing so as I am more than happy with Commando 6. I personally think you guys do a great job in releasing these images and I thank you, but face facts someone on some of the other sites WILL go against your request.

Ive no problem with Zapp64 posting the writeup for this image, or the images themselves, but he did not include it all, this is the full write up, note the please no keys or roms bit is missing from his post, thats the crucial bit, at the end of the day these images are created for sharing, but lets make sure we respect the creators requests

I wasn't nit picking just pointing out that you only needed to copy /var/keys nothing else.
Bad information can be worse than no information.
The emu's are in the image but looking at the directory structure they have symlinks in the /var/bin/emu to allow updates, if you chuck any old emu in there overwriting the symlink then not only may the new one not work but how many of you would know to telnet to the box
root
commando
cd /var/bin/emu
ln -s /bin/evocamd evocamd
or mg or new camd's.
To enable the roms that the image was designed around.
Like I say not nit picking and I am not a member of team commando but I respect the work they do and wouldn't be surprised if they stopped doing public releases, I know they are getting fedup with people breaking simple little rules or giving bad advice which means the image works badly and it reflects on them.

Oh please..
I'm shaking my head and thinking "how silly" - renwich, your presence on this forum would be greater appreciated if you actually try and help people, rather than pick faults at those who do..
Thanks..

renwich if you read my post, I did cut and paste the original write up which does include the text no roms or keys in the other section.
