A friend of mine installed a chip for me, the model is Matrix Infinity 1.53....It's been working fine for about 2 weeks but 2 days ago I turn it on and it wouldnt read any of my backsups or original, I tried unplugging tehe power, wouldnt help, but today It works again fine...now I;m thinking somehow I turned the chip off my accident and turned it back on again by accident... Does anybody know the proper way of handling these chips, like so I wouldnt turn it off again like I did before. The ps2 model that I have is 71000, which is the latest one I think.

TURNING OFF THE INFINITY:
-------------------------

- Press START on joypad 1 until the writing "DISABLED" will appear on screen.
- Press reset once.
- The Infinity is now disabled until PS2 is turned off to Standby Position.

Thats for just after booting.

BUT, you might have accidently enabled the flash or autorecovery mode which may have caused the effects you described. For FAT and SLIMLINE entering the flash is different.

for V1-V12 and V14PAL
Hold the reset button until the blue eject light turns on.

and for V14+ USA and JAP
USA : Hold reset until blue eject lights turn on, wait 3 seconds and
tap reset again.

JAP : Hold reset until blue eject lights turn on, wait 3 seconds and tap reset, wait 3 more seconds and tap reset again.

Well mine is the USA version obviosly, (I think) since I live in Canada. It is a very slim model.

---and for V14+ USA and JAP
USA : Hold reset until blue eject lights turn on, wait 3 seconds and
tap reset again

what exactly will that do, reset the chip to start working normally again?
