I bought some Phillips DVD+RW disks to test movies with but I seem to have wasted my money. Are RW media unreliable? Before I use them I format them, I'm using XP and it has DLA enabled would that make a difference? When I try to burn with Nero I get a SCSI command abort error. When I try to use nero to erase one it says the same thing, but I don't have a problem with windows formatting it. Any ideas.

I also found that DVD +/- RW are dying fast!
I decided to risk burning my movies blindely with out previous check sonce the errors commited are less than the cycle life of +/- W disks.

I only use it to test the quality if I've used some massive amopunt of compression. For example animated episodals like The Simpsons and Family guy turn out OK, but "live" episodals like Star Trek have a lot of artifacts.

I also use them if I rent a movie and don't get a chance to watch it before I return it. That way I can watch it and erase it, and therefore I'm not keeping a pirate version of the movie around.

All the bruning info you need to start is here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php#dvd9dvd2one

Also use DVD+rw for these reasons.
- movies I didn't had time watching them in time.
- as a test with very large movies, how is the quality ?
- for PS2 games from EA like FIFA, NHL and NBA.
Next year there will be a newer version that I can put over the old version.
