I read the all you need to know PSP guide. I have some questions:

1. What is the highest firmware or version the PSP can be and still get downgraded?

2. What is the firmware or version of PSP's being sold as of now?

3. Is there a program called DEVO that lets you have 1.5, but also lets you have the features of the highest firmware?

4. What is the safest way to make sure you are buying a PSP that can be downgraded?

Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

1. 3.03 is the highest firmware that can be downgraded.

2. probably 3.10, but you could still get a 3.03 with ease.

3. dont know about devo :S lol. but there is a DEVHOOK, that does what you said. but if you do get your psp to 1.5 we will talk about better options for your psp carreer lol.

4. check the firmware of your psp if you are buying it off a person who owns it instead of out the store.

OK well I just couldn't wait, so I've just bought this.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=018&sspagename
=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=280081231411&rd=1&rd=1

Can anyone let me know if this was a good idea and then point me towards a way of putting the iso's so I can play them. Is it as easy as putting them straight onto the memory card?

The link to your ebay item says the listing is invalid or was removed so I can't look at it.

I'm sure the answer to your question is in this guide

OK I copied his spiel and here it is, thanks for that link I'll read through it now.

'For sale is my UK version PSP console.

This console is running customfirmware 3.03OE-C.

This means you can do all the Official Sony 3.03 firmware stuff and all the 1.5 homebrew stuff too.

You also have a recovery mode if you brick it.

You can play back-ups of your PSP games in ISO format and back-ups of your PSX games in Eboot format too.

As well as all those homebrew applications and emulators...

(It was originally a 2.6 which has been downgraded to 1.5 and installed with "open edition" customfirmware)

It comes with a 2GB Sony pro-duo memory stick preloaded with...

Dev-hook 0.46 (some games like madden 07 need this to play i've found)

Fastloader...(so you can back-up your games onto memory stick)

Game boot mod... (you run game boots from memory stick, no chance of bricking it)

SVC player... (a screen and video capture application that can be used during the browsing of the XMB, whilst playing PSP/PSX games and PSP movies)

The PSP is in perfect working order and all functions work, including the UMD drive and buttons.

Although this is a used console, the overall condition is very, very good.

It also comes with an original Sony PSP charger, Sony soft PSP case, Sony PSP ear phones, Demo UMD disc and box'

Thats what I bought, god I hope it is good cos her in doors gave me right daggers after spending loads on it (£115.00) for it.
